After several days of hesitation, Austria has joined several European countries and expelled Russian diplomats.

Three members of the Russian embassy in Vienna and a diplomat from the consulate general in Salzburg will have to leave the country.

A spokeswoman for Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg announced on Thursday.

“The people have taken actions that are incompatible with their diplomatic status,’’ the spokeswoman said.

Those concerned were to leave the country by April 12.

Around 160 Russian diplomats and technical staff were accredited in Austria.
