President Bola Tinubu’s government has issued a travel advisory warning Nigerians about travelling to the United Kingdom.
On Saturday in Abuja, policemen fired live bullets at a vehicle conveying journalists and hunger protesters.
Some journalists and protesters ran for safety.
The development marks the latest attempt by federal authorities to stymie the nationwide demonstrations.
“The main reason we came out is that we women take care of the feeding of the family in our homes as the men are jobless,” said Suwaiba Abdullahi.

Pro-Tinubu demonstrators said they were paid N2,000 out of N5,000 promised.
Mr Akinwale said that the polytechnic management had held various meetings on the matter.
“Dangote Refinery at the moment requires 15 cargoes of crude, at a cost of $13.5 billion yearly. NNPC has committed to supply four,” Mr Tinubu’s aide said.
“No matter how good their intentions are, I believe this protest will be hijacked eventually.’’
