Avoid shooting range, NDA tells Kaduna residents

The Nigerian Defence Academy has advised inhabitants of Afaka, Kauya, and Mando, to steer clear of NDA’s open range during the upcoming shooting exercise.
The Academy Public Relations Officer, Maj. Mohammed Maidawa, made the announcement in a statement on Saturday in Kaduna.
Mr Maidawa said, “The NDA wishes to inform and caution all inhabitants of Afaka, Kauya, and Mando, particularly farmers, pedestrians, and cattle rearers, of the shooting exercise that will occur at the NDA Open Range. This exercise is scheduled to take place from October 28 to November 8 as part of a Range Management Course for Cadets of the 72 Regular Course.
“The exercise will involve live firing of arms, following several instructional and practical lessons. This exercise is essential for the training and development of our cadets, aimed at enhancing their skills in range management.’’
According to Mr Maidawa, NDA takes safety seriously, as barriers and warning signs will be placed around the range areas to indicate restricted zones.
He stated, “Moving forward, it is crucial that local residents strictly adhere to these warnings. We kindly urge all farmers, herders, and pedestrians to steer clear of the NDA Open Range during the duration of the shooting exercise. The area will be off-limits for your safety and the safety of the training personnel.’’
He added that the NDA was committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all citizens in the surrounding communities.
“We ask community members to cooperate fully by keeping clear of the designated area throughout the duration of the exercise. This cooperation is mutually beneficial towards ensuring the safety of our local communities and the effective training of our military personnel, “Mr Maidawa said.
