Avoid unauthorised military stickers on vehicles, police warn Lagosians

The Lagos state police command has warned motorists against the use of military stickers and headgear in front of their vehicles.
In a statement on his X handle on Thursday, the command’s public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the military police are currently patrolling the state to arrest those committing the act.
“Thanks for promptly calling our attention to this. We have verified. The military police are moving round Lagos State to clampdown on motorists using military stickers and having military headgear in front of their vehicles,” Mr Hundeyin wrote.
He, therefore, urged residents not to exercise fear.
Mr Hundeyin’s statement was in response to an X user @PureMinD_, who raised the alarm about the harassment of civilians in Surulere by officers of the Nigerian Army, one of whom wore an MP armband.
He wrote, “Men of Nigerian Army are currently harassing civilians at Brown junction, Aguda Surulere. They pulled me over for no reason and their lead who wore a MP armband said he will delay me, make me follow them round Lagos for their patrol and waste my fuel. This is nothing but an abuse of power.”
