Badagry LG boss re-engages 146 dismissed casual workers

The chairman of Badagry local government council in Lagos, Babatunde Hunpe, has approved the re-engagement of 146 casual workers.

This was disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the chairman, the re-engagement is a continuation of the ongoing reforms under the administration’s performance-driven policy.

He said it was aimed at enhancing productivity and accountability across all departments of the council.

The chairman said about 90 per cent of the re-engaged workers are essential staff who would be deployed to key sectors, including primary healthcare centres, security, environment and sanitation services.

He noted that the redeployment would help fill manpower gaps and improve operational capacity in the critical areas.

The council boss reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a motivated and result-oriented workforce.

Mr Hunpe urged the reabsorbed workerd to justify the confidence reposed in them by demonstrating renewed dedication, discipline, and a commitment to service.

The chairman had on September 15 announced the disengagement of 266 casual workers, claiming lack of productivity, among other things.
