Leader of the UK Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has described the government of Prime Minister Keir Starmer as a useless and zombie government.

The Tory leader made this statement in a post on her X page, reacting to report that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer rejected plan to delay 30 local council May elections in England

“Predictable chaos from a useless government that cannot make basic decisions. The legal mess is no surprise and one of the reasons why Conservatives (with a couple of exceptions who now look really silly) opposed the move to delay council elections for a second year in a row,” Mrs Badenoch said.

She added, “We voted to oppose these unnecessary cancellations at every opportunity so this is the right decision. A one-year delay to allow new councils to be re-organised is one thing. Two years was always too much.”

Mrs Badenoch added that Mr Starmer’s administration was a zombie government with no programme to deliver on anything.

She stated, “This is a zombie government. U-turn after U-turn after U-turn. No plan or programme to deliver anything. Even the simple stuff that should be business as usual gets messed up. “

“And we’ve got three more years of this, because Labour MPs don’t want an early election – they know they will lose their seats.”

The Tory leader said she was leading the renewal of her party to get Britain working again, adding “I always knew this is what Labour would be like, just as I know this is what Reform would be like if they got anywhere near govt.

“It is why I am renewing my party quickly, so that we can get Britain working again and get us out of this mess! There is only one party that has people competent enough to handle complex decisions and brave enough to do difficult things and it’s the Conservative Party.”
