Bandits kill one, kidnap three in Kwara village

Armed bandits have reportedly killed a farmer and kidnapped three others in Lata Nna village, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
A community source who spoke to the Peoples Gazette said Monday’s killing and kidnapping of farmers were separate incidents, noting that the attacks began in the village on Saturday during heavy rainfall.
“This morning, a farmer was heading to his farm, in fact not far away from the house. Just about two kilometres away from the houses.
“They wanted to kidnap him, but he resisted the kidnapping. He was brutally killed,” he said.
The source further narrated that three farmers were kidnapped between Saturday and Sunday, adding that the abductors have not placed their demands.
“On Saturday, under heavy rainfall, bandits invaded the village and entered a house. When they entered the house, they met several people in the house, and their target luckily escaped,” he told The Gazette.
According to the source, the man ran to soldiers on a patrol mission, and the armed bandits fled the community before the arrival of the soldiers.
He added that the bandits took one person.
“Yesterday, a farmer went to a farm while heading to his farm for work. They kidnapped him.
“On the same day, boys returned home, and bandits intercepted their motorcycles. They engaged in a fight, and one person fell from the bike and was taken away,” he stated.
When The Gazette reached out to the state police spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, she was unavailable for comment.
Text and WhatsApp messages sent to her remained unanswered as of press time.
