Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday condemned the heinous attack by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon on Monday, which resulted in the tragic killing of two Bangladeshi nationals.

According to the Embassy of Bangladesh in Beirut, the bodies are currently being held at a hospital in Lebanon.

The Bangladesh government expressed its profound grief and deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the victims, the ministry said in a statement.

It said the Bangladesh mission in Lebanon was working with the relevant local authorities to complete the necessary formalities for the repatriation of their mortal remains.

“Once again, Bangladesh reiterates its deep concern over the continuing violence and loss of civilian lives in the region and calls for maximum restraint and adherence to international humanitarian law,” the statement said.

The latest strike reportedly comes amid continuing tensions and military operations in southern Lebanon in spite  of the ongoing ceasefire efforts in the region.
