Bangladesh felicitates Nigeria on 66th independence anniversary

Bangladesh felicitated Nigeria on the country’s 66th independence anniversary. The high commission of Bangladesh in Nigeria conveyed the message in a statement on Thursday.
It said Bangladesh and Nigeria shared a longstanding friendship rooted in common values and mutual respect, with cooperation expanding in trade, energy, development and other areas of mutual interest.
“On behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh, we extend our warmest felicitations to the government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the occasion of the country’s 66th independence anniversary,” the statement said.
It noted that the two countries, building on the spirit of South-South solidarity, shared common values and perspectives at the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Non-Aligned Movement and other international forums.
The mission reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to deepen bilateral ties and work with Nigeria “towards a prosperous, inclusive and equitable future for both countries”.
“Bangladesh remains deeply committed to advancing fairness, peace, inclusivity and justice in international affairs,” it said.
The high commission also highlighted Bangladesh’s advocacy at the United Nations General Assembly for Africa’s rightful and permanent voice in global decision-making. It said equitable representation of Africa in the UN was essential to building a credible multilateral system.
