The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (BASUBEB) has begun training school administrators and education leaders on digital literacy skills.

The two-day capacity-building exercise is being implemented in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC),

It is designed to strengthen digital competencies and enhance teaching and learning outcomes in the state.

The chairman of the board, Abubakar Duguri, said this at the inauguration of the exercise on Tuesday in Bauchi.

He said that the training exercise would improve the participants’ knowledge of information and communication technology, with particular emphasis on education secretaries.

Mr Duguri highlighted that improved digital skills would enhance classroom instruction, boost learner engagement, and improve learning outcomes. He urged the participants to actively engage in the sessions and effectively apply the knowledge acquired.

The chairman reiterated the board’s commitment to expanding access to quality education through continuous capacity development.

Mr Duguri also encouraged parents to enrol their children in school, with particular emphasis on promoting girls’ education.

He said that the board recently engaged traditional rulers for grassroots advocacy, aimed at encouraging increased girls’ enrolment, following a decline in school attendance among the girl child.

While commending Governor Bala Mohammed for prioritising the education sector, Duguri urged parents to take advantage of the government’s investments in education.

Abdul Ishiyaku, the director of planning, research and statistics at SUBEB, said that the exercise reflected the government’s commitment toward improving the quality of teaching and learning in schools.
