Be patient with Tinubu; better days ahead, Elliot tells Nigerians

Desmond Elliot, the lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, has urged residents of the area to exercise patience with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, assuring them of better days ahead.
Mr Elliot made the appeal on Thursday during the Lagos State House of Assembly 10th Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting held at Methodist Church Hall, Small London, Surulere, Lagos.
The theme of the meeting was “Governance in Action: The Gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
He said the present administration had made improvements in various sectors of the economy, such as agriculture, infrastructure, health, and education, among others.
“Tinubu’s administration has improved foreign partnerships where investors can easily come from various countries without having to go through cumbersome immigration processes.
“There is relative peace in the country, and this will lead to better investment, which is so needed for economic growth,” Mr Elliot said.
He added that there were now free scholarships available to Nigerian students, regardless of their tribe or gender.
“The coastal road is another project that will facilitate development in the country once it’s completed,” he said.
Mr Elliot said town hall meetings were important because they created an avenue for reaching out to the people, gathering feedback from them, and improving areas that needed attention.
The lawmaker acknowledged the challenges Nigerians are facing, stating, “I recall that upon the inception of Tinubu’s administration, we were told to brace up because the beginning of the journey to better living wouldn’t be easy.
“However, we have started seeing improvement, and the suffering stage will soon be over.
“We have already realised our budget for the year, and what this means is that the indices are working for us, and we will begin to see certain improvement as a people.”
Mr Elliot urged his constituents to contribute their quota to grassroots development, emphasising that the government cannot do it all alone.
“The federal government has done well so far by ensuring direct allocation to the local government areas; it is now the responsibility of the people to ask their various local government chairmen what they are doing with the allocation given to them,” he said.
