Benue gets new police commissioner

Ifeanyi Emenari has assumed office as the new police commissioner in Benue.
This was announced in a statement by Sewuese Anene, the command’s spokeswoman, on Monday.
The statement said Mr Emenari, who hails from Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA in Anambra, was enlisted in the Nigeria Police Academy in 1992.
He had served in various operational, investigative and administrative capacities across the country.
Mr Emenari served Zamfara, Imo, Katsina, Anambra, Calabar, Osun, Ogun, Abia and Abuja.
“The CP served as unit commander 27 Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Kastina State from 1996 to 1999, unit commander 29 PMF in Awka, Anambra state from 1999-2002 and unit commander 11 PMF in Calabar, Cross River state from 2002 to 2003,” added the statement.
Mr Emenari had represented Nigeria in foreign missions where he served as commanding officer.
He was a contingent commander to the United Nations Mission in Sudan, ops officer at the Joint Operation Centre in Khartoum, Sudan, and deputy security advisor in Eastern Equatorial, South Sudan in 2012.
Prior to Mr Emenari’s deployment to Benue, he was a commissioner of police and force provost marshal.
Mr Emenari “pledges to strengthen community policing and partnerships, enhance security measures to protect lives and properties and use available resources to combat insecurity” in Benue, said the statement.
