Benue man arraigned over alleged rape of married woman

The police in Benue on Monday arraigned Jighjigh Aondoaver before a Makurdi Upper Area Court for allegedly raping a housewife.
Inspector Veronica Shaagee told the court that the woman’s husband, Aondoaseer Kenti, of Opposite Way in Garage Vandeikya, reported the case at Divisional Police Station, Vandeikya, on July 13.
She said that the accused allegedly raped the complainant’s wife on the July 11 when he sent her to take food to the people who were working on his farm.
Mr Kenti said that, on the said date, his wife while going to the farm, Mr Aondoaver of Kaamem Mbayongu, Vandeikya LGA, allegedly took her to his house with his motorcycle.
He said Mr Aondoaver did this under the pretext that he was going to take something and he allegedly forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.
The prosecutor said that during the police investigation, Mr Aondoaver was arrested for committing the offence.
The prosecutor said the accused contravened Section 284 of penal code law of Benue.
