Cross-dresser Bobrisky convicted for naira abuse

On April 5, Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court convicted popular Nigerian cross-dresser Idris “Bobrisky” Okuneye of naira abuse.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arrested and charged Bobrisky with six counts of abuse and money laundering. According to the charge, labelled FHC/l/244c/2024, Bobrisky committed the alleged offence on March 24 at Circle Mall, Jakande, in the Lekki area of Lagos.

The court convicted the defendant following his guilty plea and reserved the sentence until April 9. It also ordered that he be remanded in custody of the EFCC until then.

Paternity Fraud: Court summons five netizens for allegedly defaming Mercy Chinwo

The Wuse Zone 2 Chief Magistrate Court summoned five netizens on April 3 to appear before the court and plead their defence in an allegation of criminal defamation and cyberstalking brought by gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Blessed Uzochikwa.

The couple had filed a complaint that Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, DJ Spoiltkid, Terrence Ekot, and Samuel Agozie defamed them by alleging that their newborn bore a striking resemblance to the singer’s colleague, Nathaniel Bassey.

In a similar yet separate case, Mr Bassey petitioned the police IG on Wednesday to urgently arrest and investigate four online users who accused him of fathering Ms Chinwo’s child.

Tiwa Savage announces release date for debut movie ‘Water and Garri’

Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has announced the official release date for her debut movie, “Water and Garri.” The movie is set to premiere on Prime Video, making it accessible to audiences in over 240 countries worldwide. 

Savage, who had previously teased fans about her venture into filmmaking, took to her social media platform on April 4, 2024, to reveal the eagerly awaited release date. 

She disclosed that “Water and Garri” is scheduled to hit screens on May 10, 2024, accompanied by a promotional flyer featuring herself alongside Nollywood actors Jemima Osunde and Mike Afolayan.

Chance The Rapper, Kirsten Corley announce divorce after five years of marriage

American hip-hop artist Chance The Rapper and his spouse, Kirsten Corley, have decided to divorce after five years of marriage. 

In a joint statement on social media, they expressed gratitude for their time together and their commitment to co-parenting their two daughters.

The couple, who have been together since childhood, tied the knot in 2019 and have two daughters, aged 7 and 4. Chance’s debut album, “Big Day,” inspired by their relationship, reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2019, but he has not released any albums since then.

J.Cole drops surprise album ‘Might Delete Later’

American rapper and record producer J. Cole dropped a surprise album, “Might Delete Later,” on Friday. The album appeared to be a response to Kendrick Lamar’s fiery bars on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That,” where he took aim at the North Carolina rapper and Drake.

The album features collaborations with artists like Ari Lennox, Gucci Mane, Bas, Central Cee, and Cam’Ron, marking his seventh studio album. His previous release was “The Off-Season” in 2021.
