Boko Haram fighters abduct 13 girls harvesting crops on Borno farm
Boko Haram fighters on Sunday abducted 13 girls working on a farm at Huyim, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
A source told Peoples Gazette that the terrorists attacked a farm where the girls were working and abducted 13 of them.
“Thirteen girls were abducted on a farm in Huyim, Askira/Uba Local Government Area,” the source said.
According to the source, the girls were kidnapped while harvesting crops on the farm.
“Fortunately, one of the abducted girls managed to escape and has returned home safely. She is currently assisting officials and family members with vital information about the incident,” the source said.
The state police spokesperson, Nahum Daso, did not pick calls made to his mobile when contacted by Peoples Gazette.
However, Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Askira, confirmed the abduction, according to Daily Trust.
Besides, a government official in the state confirmed the incident on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak on the matter.
