Borno governor approves establishment of industrial hub unit, appoints manager

The Borno State government has taken a bold step to boost trade and investment across the state with the establishment of an Industrial Hub Management Unit.
Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bukar Tijani, who made this known in a statement issued in Maiduguri on Monday, said the state governor, Babagana Zulum, gave the approval to be located in the state capital.
The industrial hub was a multi-facility complex designed to stimulate economic growth through diversified processing and manufacturing activities.
Mr Tijani said the governor’s approval had underscored the commitment to strengthening the hub’s operations, improving efficiency, and attracting further investment into the state.
The SSG said, “His Excellency, Governor Babagana Zulum, has approved the establishment of a dedicated Borno State Industrial Hub Management Unit to further strengthen its operations in Maiduguri, improve efficiency, and attract more investment into the state.’’
He said that the hub was currently hosting production plants for solar panels, waste recycling, and food processing of tomatoes, cassava, ginger, and onions.
Mr Tijani said the hub was also hosting manufacturing lines for corn chips, biscuits, and school furniture.
He said, “Since its commissioning, the Industrial Hub has shown significant potential to revitalise local industry, generate employment, and promote industrial self-sufficiency.’’
According to the statement, the governor also approved the appointment of Bukar Kolomi, his senior technical assistant, as the industrial hub manager.
The SSG said that Mr Kolomi is a seasoned administrator with vast experience and technical expertise in engineering and other related fields.
Mr Tijani said the Industrial Hub Management Unit would operate under the supervision of the Ministry of Trade, Investment, and Tourism to ensure seamless coordination.
