Borno: Zulum approves N3 billion death benefits, N70,000 minimum wage

Governor Bagana Zulum of Borno has approved N3 billion for payment of death benefits to families of deceased civil servants.

Mr Zulum also directed the payment of N70,000 minimum wage to workers with immediate effect.

The governor spoke during a meeting with the technical committee on the implementation of the national minimum wage on Thursday in Maiduguri.

He said the gesture aims to provide soccur to the families of deceased workers, adding that his administration had adopted proactive measures towards improving the welfare of the workers.

While presenting the cheque to the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Mr Zulum reiterated his commitment to settle the backlog of gratuities and to an upward review of pensions for retirees.
