The Bureau of Public Service Reforms is set to convene key stakeholders to explore innovative approaches to strengthening public institutions and accelerating nationwide public service reforms.

The bureau disclosed this in a statement, saying that the event would feature a public lecture and other activities to commemorate the United Nations Public Service Day on June 23.

The director-general of BPSR, Dasuki Arabi, said the event reflected the bureau’s commitment to fostering excellence in the public service and supporting reforms that enhance the efficiency, effectiveness and responsiveness of public institutions.

Mr Arabi said that strengthening institutions remained critical to achieving sustainable national development, improving service delivery and restoring public trust in government.

He said that the lecture series would enable Nigeria to join the global community in commemorating the United Nations Public Service Day while celebrating innovation, reform and excellence in public administration.

Mr Arabi said the forum was designed to promote the exchange of ideas, experiences and best practices to improve governance and public service delivery. 

He said it would also provide a platform for critical discussions on practical solutions to build innovative, inclusive, accountable, and citizen-centred institutions capable of responding effectively to the evolving needs and aspirations of Nigerians.

The forum will bring together senior government officials, policymakers, development partners, civil society organisations, academics and governance experts to deliberate on strategies to enhance institutional performance and promote inclusive governance.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya will chair the occasion, while a former head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Bukar Aji, will deliver the keynote lecture.
