U.S. President Donald Trump has finally conceded to President-elect Joe Biden after protracted bickering on purported electoral fraud.

Mr. Trump’s concession comes moments after the country’s parliament affirmed Biden’s Electoral College victory, American news network CNN is reporting.

Mr. Biden surpassed the crucial 270 mark in the Electoral College votes on Thursday morning, affirming him as the 46th President of the United States.

The outgoing U.S. leader, who lost reelection bid in the hotly contested November poll, described his controversial and largely tumultuous first tenure as the “greatest first term in presidential history,” the media outlet said Thursday, citing a statement by Mr. Trump’s senior aide Dan Scavino.

“Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th,” President Trump was reported to have said in the statement.

“I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again,” the statement added.

Mr. Trump’s accounts on social networking apps Facebook and Twitter were temporarily suspended Wednesday, following a controversial tweet that appeared to have endorsed a mob action at the U.S. Congress yesterday.
