A British policeman caught on camera making racial and discriminatory comments against African immigrants, Philip Neilson, has been sacked. 


Mr Neilson was fired on Thursday after a BBC Panorama undercover report exposed him making racist and discriminatory comment against an Algerian and Somalian immigrants.


Based on the BBC video evidence, the UK Metropolitan Police found Mr Neilson guilty of violating the standards of professional behaviour in “respect of authority, respect and courtesy, discreditable conduct, equality and diversity.”


UK Met hearing said Mr Neilson “displayed extreme racial, violent and discriminatory views throughout the footage as well as a lack of respect, courtesy and professionalism resulting in a lack of confidence from the public that PC Neilson is responsible for serving.”


Chairman of the hearing on the matter in south-west London on Thursday, Jason Prins, expressed satisfaction with the dismissal of Mr Neilson with notice based his unprofessional conduct.


“It was or must have been obvious to him that the comments made were abhorrent,” Mr Prins said. “The conduct of the officer is a disgrace.”

At the hearing, Mr Neilson denied being a racist for the four years he had been a policeman, accusing the journalist who caught him on record of violating his rights.


The undercover reporter, Mr Neilson said, “breached his humans rights,” adding that the journalist “kept bringing up these conversations” and “egging me on.”

Mr Neilson was caught on video saying a detained immigrant who overstayed his visa should have a “bullet through his head.”
