Bruno Fernandes breaks assist record, Arsenal celebrate title as West Ham relegated on final EPL matchday

Bruno Fernandes set the new Premier League assist record as Manchester United thrashed Brighton 3-0 in their final match of the season at the Amex Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Portuguese midfielder placed a perfect corner kick into the path of Patrick Dorgu, who headed the ball into the back of the net. It was Fernandes’ 21st assist of the campaign to surpass Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry.
Bryan Mbeumo doubled the lead for the Red Devils just before the half time as Fernandes scored his ninth league goal of the season three minutes into the second half to seal the victory for United.
Elsewhere, West Ham United were relegated from the Premier League after 14 years in the top flight despite beating Leeds United 3-0 after Tottenham emerged victors in the final day survival battle courtesy of a 1-0 win over Everton.
At the Stadium of Light, 10-man Chelsea failed to secure European football participation for next season as they were beaten 2-1 by Sunderland, finishing 10th on the league table.
Trai Hume’s strike and an own goal by Malo Gutso secured the victory for Sunderland to ensure that the Black Cats will play in the UEFA Europa League next season.
Cole Palmer scored Chelsea’s only goal in the game.
Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola fell to a 2-1 loss against Aston Villa in his final game as the manager of Manchester City, with Ollie Watkins scoring Villa’s both goals in the match, while Antoine Semenyo was on the scoresheet for the Cityzens.
The match was both John Stones and Bernardo Silva’s final appearances as City players following earlier announcement that they would leave the club at the end of the season.
In South London, Arsenal beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at the Selhurst Park on the day the Gunners were inaugurated as the new champions of England after 22 years’ wait.
Gabriel Jesus and Noni Madueke scored Arsenal’s goals in the encounter, while Jean-Philippe Meteta netted Palace’s consolation.
