President of the Senate Ahmad Lawan says President Muhammadu Buhari is trying his best possible to ensure that things are okay with Nigeria.

This is as Mr Buhari’s insufferable regime continues with its lethargic response to security and economic challenges.

Under the leadership of Mr Buhari, bandits have stormed different villages in northern states, looting properties, abducting school students and causing untold destruction of livelihoods.

In March, 39 students of the college in Afaka, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna state were abducted from their hostels by bandits dressed in military uniform, this followed abduction of students from Katsina, Zamfara and Niger schools.

Having failed woefully in safeguarding the lives and properties of Nigerians, Mr Buhari had also performed poorly with managing the country’s economy.

Peoples Gazette reported that the country’s inflation had worsened, hitting 18.17 per cent in March.

The country’s consumer price index, which measures inflation, increased by 18.17 per cent (year-on-year), 0.82 per cent points higher than the rate recorded in February 2021 (17.33 per cent).

However, Punch Newspaper reported that Mr Lawan while at the launch of Potiskum Emirate Central Mosque Appeal Fund at Potiskum, Yobe State on Saturday, said the leadership of the National Assembly was also trying their best to ensure that things are okay with Nigeria.

He urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the President Buhari administrations, adding that leaders need the prayers of their followers.

“Our leaders, particularly our President, Muhammadu Buhari, may God grant him good health, God has given him the leadership of this country through you. He is trying his possible best for you and we too that are part of his leadership, we are trying our best to ensure that things are okay for Nigeria,” Mr Lawan said.

“I will therefore take this opportunity to urge you to continue to pray for our leaders that may Almighty Allah continue to guide them as they proffer solutions to security challenges, youth unemployment and for us to continue to assist our people,” he added.

The country’s consumer price index, which measures inflation, increased by 18.17 per cent (year-on-year), 0.82 per cent points higher than the rate recorded in February 2021 (17.33 per cent).

The CPI report for March released by the National Bureau of Statistics detailed that the headline index increased by 1.56 per cent in March 2021, which is 0.02 per cent points higher than the rate recorded in February 2021 (1.54 per cent).
