Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday lauded President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that he is most committed to the progress of Nigeria, having spent years in public service.

“That is a genuine commitment; he has spent most of his life in public service at various levels,” Mr Osinbajo said while receiving a delegation from the Catholic Women Organisation of Nigeria (CWON) on Wednesday.

“One thing that is evident is that if there is anyone committed to the progress of this country, he is,” he added, according to a statement by his spokesperson Laolu Akande.

Mr Osinbajo said the president was determined to ensure things were done right and absolutely committed to the progress of the people and the country.

The vice president also reaffirmed the federal government’s resolve in ensuring things run smoothly in the country.

He also commended the Catholic Church over the social and civic roles it plays in Nigeria.

“This is also evident in the work that you are doing as the Catholic Women Organisation of Nigeria with the schools, hospitals, and the various ways the civic and social lives of people in our country have improved; a lot of it is in the efforts of the Catholic Church,” stated the vice president.

He added, “There will be times when a country is faced with challenges; it is the leadership and not just political leadership;, but I mean civic and religious leaders such as yourselves who rise in support of the country by way of prayers, encouragement, and admonition.”
