Buhari mourns Aishatu, Ahmadu Bello’s daughter

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed condolences over the death of Aishatu Ahmadu Bello, the second daughter of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria and Sardauna of Sokoto.
Born in Sokoto on August 22, 1945, Ms Ahmadu Bello died at a Dubai hospital on Friday after a prolonged illness, according to her son Hassan Marafa Danbaba.
In his condolence message, Mr Buhari described Ms Ahmadu Bello as a humble and disciplined woman who lived a fulfilled life of modesty.
The president said “the deceased lived a worthy and humble life and was an embodiment of discipline and fine character,” and “was not only prominent on account of her birth into a powerful family, but also for the decent character that endeared her to so many people.”
“At 75, Aishatu lived a fulfilled life of modesty, discipline and decent character, virtues that should be emulated by her surviving children and other women,” he added.
Mr Buhari also extended his sympathy to the Sokoto State Government, Emirate Council, her son the Magajin Garin Sokoto, Mr Danbaba and in-law Ambassador Shehu Malami, Sarki Sudan.
The deceased who happened to be to be a widow of Ahmad Danbaba, the late Marafan of Sokoto was the senior among the remaining two Daughters of Late Mr Bello.
She was survived by five children, Hassan Marafa Danbaba, Hajiya Asma’u Shehu Malami, Hajiya Hadiza U. Goronyo, Hajiya Maryamu and Hajiya Aisha.
