The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has arrested a 20-year-old suspect, Oyeleye Moshood, for allegedly stealing properties belonging to Al-Lateef Group of Schools in Ifo.

So-Safe State Commander, Soji Ganzallo, in a statement signed by the director of information and public relations, Adegunwa Adegbuyi, on Saturday, said the school proprietor, Animasaun Jelili, reported the theft to its Ifo zonal command.

“The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has apprehended a 20-year-old man, Oyeleye Moshood,” Mr Ganzallo said.

He said the suspect, “who is a resident of Anuoluwapo Street, Off Olomu, Ifo, Ogun State, was alleged to have stolen and maliciously damaged Al-Lateef Group of Schools property, at 75, Bibire Community, Off Olomu, Ifo.”

Mr Ganzallo said the proprietor, in his report, explained that “he received a call from the school security guard, on the 23rd September, 2026, around 9:00 p.m., that he noticed the School gate was locked from the behind which was unusual at that time of the night. Afterwards, he tried gaining access into the school compound, but noticed that someone was inside.

“The burglar had removed many sliding windows, wires, 2 ceiling fans and metal. In the process, he heard footsteps and immediately fled the scene, but forgot his clothes (Jalabia) at the scene.

“The suspect was eventually apprehended by the operatives of the agency, with the aid of the clothes recovered at the scene and subsequent investigation carried out in the neighbourhood.

“The suspect, who lives not far from the school, tried to escape again on realising that the operatives were closing in on him, but was subdued and eventually arrested.”

According to Mr Ganzallo, there had been many cases of stealing and burglary at the school for some time, but it has been rampant since January 2026, which has been a cause for concern.

He noted that the suspect and recovered property have been handed over to the Ifo Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
