Burna Boy halts Colorado concert after noticing fan, girlfriend sleeping during performance

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Damini Ogulu, otherwise called Burna Boy, has paused his concert in Colorado on Wednesday after spotting a fan and his girlfriend asleep during his set.
The incident occurred at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre near Denver, where the Afrobeats star was performing as part of his ongoing tour.
From videos circulating online, Burna Boy stopped mid-performance to call out the couple, saying, “We’re doing this shit because we’re doing it and we love you, you understand? So, when I stand up here and see you over there with your girl sleeping in front of me, this is where ya fuck off. You understand, so please take her the fuck home.”
The girl appeared reluctant to stand up, and her boyfriend was seen trying to pull her up.
Burna Boy refused to continue performing until the couple left, saying, “Yo, hurry up. Wallahi, I’m not doing another song till you go home.”
An X user who attended the concert in her view narrated what led to the outburst. According to her, Burna Boy had been unwell but insisted on going ahead with the performance despite his condition.
The X user said the artiste sang his first song and he’s like, ‘Y’all, I almost didn’t make the show. I’m so sick, I had to take so many medications, but you know what? The show goes on.’
The eyewitness added that Burna Boy appeared frustrated that some fans were disengaged despite his effort to push through illness.
“Everytime he sings a song, he goes, ‘Can I get water?’ Like three songs left, he was like, ‘Is that person sleeping? I told y’all I was sick and the fact y’all sitting down here and sleeping as I’m giving y’all my best,’” she said.
Fans have shared mixed reactions on the incident. While some justified the singer’s action, others criticised it as too harsh.
An X user, @xxxxxcrawford, wrote, “It’s simple, if you’re lucky enough to sit front row at a Burna Boy concert, bring the same energy he brings on stage. It’s not a movie night, it’s an experience. If you can’t keep up, don’t block someone else’s vibe. Burna just kept the energy pure.”
However, @mrfact_tv disagreed, saying, “I swear I no go comot, make the show better scatter. I paid for the tickets, and I will go nowhere.”
