It’s like everybody does it, but no one wants to be the one that is seen with it. It’s just kind of hypocritical out there. Everybody smokes weed,” said Burna Boy.

Grammy award-winning Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has launched a cannabis brand, BrkFst, in the U.S.

The launch, announced this month by Black Cannabis Magazine via their official Instagram page, stated that Burna’s cannabis brand BrkFst is in partnership with Jokes Up/ Ice Kream at South Beach, Miami.

The brand name, derived from the singer’s hit track ‘Last Last’, is an abbreviation for breakfast.

“@burnaboygram is bringing his addition to the Cannabis Community by naming his brand BrkFst. Most smokers Will resonate because they start the day with morning marijuana consumption, Breakfast, your first meal. Hence the slogan is #Brkfstisforsmokers @smokebrkfst,” said the outlet.

It added, “Coinciding with Miami Carnival, the all-day celebration started with a Pop Up from 12- 3, Followed by Brunch at Miami Diner from 3:30-7 and had the team representing Burna Boy headlining at the all-white themed Tipsy Musical Festival at Bayfront Park, which closed out at 11 PM.”

Although cannabis is still illegal in America’s federal law, some state laws have made it legal for medicinal and recreational purposes.

Burna Boy, who called the cannabis ban by the Nigerian government “dumb” during an interview with Home Grown Radio in Los Angeles, described the nation’s stance on cannabis as “hypocrisy.”

“It’s like everybody does it, but no one wants to be the one that is seen with it. It’s just kind of hypocritical out there. Everybody smokes weed,” said Burna Boy.

Burna Boy added, “It’s like some dumb shit, bro. You know that old shit when they talk about it frying your brains. They try to make it seem like if you smoke it, you will go mad. Right now, everybody is relaxed, everybody does it, and everybody knows that. It’s just a topic no one wants to talk about. No one wants to talk about it; everybody is cool. Nobody wants to make it a thing.”
