Championship side Burnley have appointed former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany as their coach.

The club announced Kompany’s appointment on their official Twitter handle on Tuesday.

“We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Vincent Kompany as first-team manager. Welcome to Burnley, @vincentkompany!,” the club said.

Kompany, 36, will take over from Mike Jackson who replaced Sean Dyche in April but could not rescue the clube from relegation.

Kompany, who resigned as Anderlecht’s coach last month, is expected to return Burnley to the Premier League.
