Businessman allegedly fleeing from kidnappers shot dead in Edo community

A business owner identified as JuseWayne was reportedly killed by gunmen who attempted to kidnap him in Ekpoma town in the Esan West Local Government of Edo State on Saturday.

Reports noted that the assailants attempted to abduct the victim but shot at him when he tried to escape.

In a viral video circulating online, a man said the deceased was on the way to get something for his wife when he was ambushed by the gunmen in the community.

“Whoo this one hard for those of you that don’t know what happened, for those of you that have been asking lifestyle what happened and those of you that are not in Ekpoma this is the gist,” a man in the viral video said.

“We lost someone in Ekpoma. His name is JuseWayne, the CEO of the Principal Takeout that sells food. You know Hindu meal rice in the evening,” another -yet-to-be-identified man said.

“The kidnappers were trying to abduct him they were trying to drag him inside the bush. So he was trying to run away then they shot him according to what I heard now. He was shot two to three times,” he said.

“He is married. Just got married last year and they have a son. Today, Sunday is supposed to be their baby dedication. Dey don kill papa,” another unidentified resident added.

Efforts by The Gazette to get the comment of the Edo State police spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, were futile as calls were not answered and text and WhatsApp messages sent remained unreplied as of the time this report was filed.
