On Wednesday, the Bwari area council of the FCT resumed the reconstruction of its township road, popularly known as the T-Junction.

The ongoing reconstruction of the 3-kilometre road commenced in December 2023, alongside other major reconstruction and rehabilitation projects in the district.

Chide Momoh, director for works, housing, land, and survey in the council, supervising the work on Wednesday at the road site, said the project would be completed quickly.

He explained that the work, which stopped at some point, was not intentional but meant to allow stakeholders to strategise and address some challenges met earlier along the way.

Mr Momoh said the administration led by Mr John Gabaya had demonstrated determination for the district’s development and would do all it took to ensure that no ongoing project was abandoned.

He assured that the resumption of work on the road would end the daily stress experienced by road users and residents, adding that a lengthy part of the road had been covered with bitumen.

A resident, Chigozie John, while commending the council’s efforts, said he was glad the administration heard their pleas and resumed work immediately.

“The dust was almost killing us, if not for the few times rain fell. At least now, we are sure the road was not abandoned and it would be opened to commuters soon. It will ease traffic. God bless the chairman and his team,” Mr John said.
