By-election: Kebbi government preaches peace after declaration of results

Yakubu Bala-Tafida, Secretary to Kebbi Government (SSG), on Saturday, appealed to the electorate to remain calm even after the declaration of results in the state’s by-election.
Mr Bala-Tafida appealed while speaking in an interview with journalists in Yauri during the by-election of the Yauri/Shanga/Ngaski federal constituency.
The election followed the appointment of Yusuf Tanko-Sununu as Minister of State, Education, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Mr Bala-Tafida said the call became imperative to maintain peace and ensure growth and development.
The SSG said no society would record any meaningful development in an atmosphere of rancho and bitterness, hence the need for people to promote peace.
He said that given the spread of projects across the state, the electorate have no option but to vote for APC to reciprocate the gesture.
Also, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Abubakar Kana-Zuru, appreciated the high turnout of voters and expressed optimism that their party would emerge victorious.
The chairman attributed the large turnout to the commitment of the state governor to ensure the execution of projects.
“People turn out en masse to vote for our party because they have confidence in the leadership of our governor.
“He has started well, and people have witnessed development more than expected; that’s why they reciprocate by voting APC,” said Mr
On his part, the member representing the Zuru/Fakai/Sakaba/Danko-Wasagu federal constituency, Kabiru Ibrahim-Tukura, appealed to the people to stay calm even after the results are announced.
