CAF Champions League final to be hosted in Uyo stadium
The 2022 finals of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League will be held at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, the African football governing body disclosed.
The final is scheduled for May 29, 2022.
The competition is presently in the semifinal stage, with Wydad Casablanca facing off against Atletico Petrolero de Luanda while Al Alhy will need to get past ES Setif in order to play in yet another final.
According to the Senior Special assistant on Sports to the Governor of Akwa-ibom, Paul Bassey, officials of CAF visited the stadium over a month ago to inspect the state of the facilities at the stadium.
This is the third final to be played in a one-off format at a neutral ground after the 2020 edition hosted at the Cairo International Stadium and 2021 at Morocco’s Stade Mohammed V in Rabat.
