CAF nominates Osimhen, nine others for 2025 men’s player of the year

The Confederation of African Football on Wednesday listed Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, among 10 nominees for the 2025 African footballer of the year.
The 2023 African footballer of the year and Galatasaray striker, made the list alongside Andre Frank Zambo-Anguissa (Cameroon/Napoli), Fiston Mayele (DR Congo/Pyramids), Mohamed Salah (Egypt/Liverpool) and Denis Bouanga (Gabon/Los Angeles FC).
Other nominees include Serhou Guirassy (Guinea/Borussia Dortmund), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco/Paris Saint-Germain), Oussama Lamlioui (Morocco/RS Berkane), Iliman Ndiaye (Senegal/Everton) and Pape Matar Sarr (Senegal/Tottenham Hotspur).
According to CAF, the consideration for the awards nominees is for players who made major contributions to football on the continent from January 6 to October 15, 2025.
The continent’s football governing body explained that a panel of experts made up of CAF technical and development committee members, experienced coaches, CAF legends and selected media representatives decided on 10 nominees for each category considering the performances in competitions within the period in review.
