CAF slams Senegalese, Moroccan players, officials over squabble, threatens sanctions

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has slammed players and officials of the Senegalese and Moroccan football teams over squabble that took place during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final held on Sunday night.
CAF said, “The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) condemns the unacceptable behaviour of some players and officials during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final between Morocco and Senegal in Rabat last night.
“CAF strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour which occurs during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or match organizers,” it added, while noting that “CAF is reviewing all footage and will refer the matter to competent bodies for appropriate action to be taken against those found guilty.”
Majority of Senegalese players staged a walk out from the pitch following a directive by their coach, after the official referee and the VAR team awarded a penalty to the Moroccan side about one minute to the end of full time.
About four minutes prior, the official referee had disallowed a goal scored by the Senegalese side on the basis that a Senegalese player pushed a Moroccan player to the ground.
Though the penalty kick was later taken after the Senegalese players returned to the pitch, the Moroccan side, however lost the penalty kick, while the match proceeded to extra time, with the Senegalese side winning by one to nil.
