Canada has announced five new Express Entry draw categories for 2026, targeting workers from Nigeria and other countries.

Lena Metlege Diab, Canada’s immigration minister, announced new Express Entry categories for 2026 in Ottawa on Wednesday.

“Today, we are introducing new categories designed to meet and support Canada’s evolving needs and reflect our government’s determination to attract the best talent to Canada,” Ms Diab said.

On Canada’s official immigration website, the categories of talent needed for the 2026 new entry include medical doctors with Canadian work experience, researchers with Canadian work experience and senior managers with Canadian work experience.

Others in the new categories are transport occupations and skilled military recruits who have a job offer from the Canadian Armed Forces.”
