Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, wife Sophie dissolve marriage after 18 years

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie have announced the dissolution of their marriage after 18 years, Peoples Gazette understands.
“Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate,” Mr Trudeau said in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
The decision to end the union was not mentioned but Mrs Sophie, 48, who was often seen together with her now ex-husband in social functions when he became Prime Minister in 2015, had limited such appearances in recent years.
Mr Trudeau, 51, and Sophie became married in 2005 and their high-profile marriage was blessed with three children. Both of them last travelled to London for the coronation of King Charles in May.
“They have worked to ensure that all legal and ethical steps with regards to their decision to separate have been taken and will continue to do so moving forward,” Mr Trudeau’s office said in a statement.
The statement added that the duo “remain a close family and Sophie and the Prime Minister are focused on raising their kids in a safe, loving and collaborative environment,” as the family requested for privacy at this moment.
