The Canadian authorities have announced stability of Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) eligible courses for 2026, adding there would be no addition or removal from the existing list.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) confirmed this development in an update on its website, ‘freezing the list of eligible courses of Post-Graduation Work Permit it reviewed in 2025.’

“PGWP field of study list freeze for 2026. For 2026, we won’t add or remove any eligible fields of study,” Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s website reads.

It added, “To meet the field of study requirement, your CIP code must be on the list of currently eligible CIP codes when you submit either your study permit application or your PGWP application.”

By this development, the 1,107 eligible programs and other added in 2025 for skilled trades, healthcare and STEM, remain unchanged for the year under review -2026.

This announcement came less than a year after a review was done in 2025. The 2025 revision affected college-level program alone. University degrees were not affected.

The PGWP allows international students who have completed their education to transit into workers in a journey to attaining permanent residence and subsequently obtaining citizenship.
