Céline Dion to return to stage after years-long battle with health crisis

“I’m working hard every day. But I have to admit, it’s been a struggle. If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. I won’t stop,” Céline Dion said.

Céline Dion has announced her return to singing and live performances, four years after stepping back from the stage due to a rare health condition.

In a video shared on her Instagram page on Monday, the Grammy-winning singer, who was celebrating her birthday, revealed that she was recovering and ready to reconnect with fans.

“In my career, I’ve recorded a lot of birthday messages, but this is the first time I’ve recorded one for my own birthday,” she said. “I want to let you know that I’m doing great, managing my health, I’m feeling good, I’m singing again, even doing a little bit of dancing.”

She added that fan support had been overwhelming and instrumental in her recovery.

“I’ve missed you so much. This year I’m getting the best gift of my life, I’m getting the chance to see you, to perform for you once again in Paris beginning in September this year,” she said.

The singer also announced a new concert lineup titled ‘Celine Dion Paris 2026’, featuring 10 shows to begin in September, with presale tickets opening on April 7.

Ms Dion’s return comes after she publicly revealed she was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in 2022.

In an emotional video at the time, she told fans she had been battling health challenges for years and could no longer continue her scheduled tour.

The condition, a rare disorder, causes muscle stiffness and painful spasms, affecting movement and speech.

Ms Dion revealed that, due to her illness, she was struggling to walk and sing, forcing her to cancel multiple concerts across Europe at the time.

Speaking in a 2024 interview with NBC News, she described the experience as intense, saying it felt “like someone’s strangling you” and affecting her ability to use her voice.

Her health battle was also recorded in a 2024 documentary ‘I Am: Céline Dion’, where she was seen breaking down in tears while discussing her journey.

“I’m working hard every day. But I have to admit, it’s been a struggle. If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. I won’t stop,” she said in the trailer.

The 58-year-old singer is widely regarded as one of the best-selling artistes of all time, with hit songs like ‘My Heart Will Go On’, the love theme song from the film ‘Titanic’, with over 690 million streams on Spotify.
