Premier League side Chelsea are close to signing Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk after agreeing to a €100 million deal with the Ukrainian club, as per multiple reports.

Renowned football journalist, Fabrizio Romano, reported on Saturday evening that representatives of Chelsea were in Poland in order to prevent the player from going to Arsenal.

Arsenal had always been the favourite to sign the player and Mudryk’s first choice but after weeks of negotiations between The Gunners and Shakhtar, they weren’t able to meet the club’s €100 million valuation.

The Gunners had two earlier bids for the 22-year-old turned down and a new bid of €95 million with add ons included on the table before Chelsea suddenly came into the negotiating table.

Only fews hours of negotiation in Poland, and Chelsea agreed to pay €100 million for the player, sending a huge blow to Arsenal’s transfer business in this window.

Despite several cryptic posts about a potential transfer to Arsenal, Mudryk wasted no chance in changing his potential allegiance to their main rival as Romano confirmed the player will fly to London tonight in order to undergo medical with Chelsea.

Chelsea, who have struggled to hit the ground running this season, are looking to bolster their attacking options after the latest arrival of Joao Felix, who is now suspended for the next three games following a red card shown to him on his Premier League debut.
