Chelsea announce Enzo Maresca’s departure as head coach

Premier League side Chelsea have confirmed club head coach Enzo Maresca has left the club amid reports of breakdown in the relationship between the Italian and the hierarchy at Stamford Bridge.
“Chelsea Football Club and Head Coach Enzo Maresca have parted company,” the West London club said in a statement on Thursday. “We wish Enzo well for the future.”
The 45-year-old joined Chelsea from Leicester City in 2024 after winning the EFL Championship to oversee the ongoing project at the club.
Within in his short spell at Chelsea, he guided the club to UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup triumph.
“During his time at the club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements will remain an important part of the club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions to the club,” Chelsea stated.
“With key objectives still to play for across four competitions including qualification for Champions League football, Enzo and the club believe a change gives the team the best chance of getting the season back on track.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea are expected to announce a replacement shortly ahead of the Premier League away game against Manchester City on Saturday, with Liam Rosenior of Ligue 1 side Strasbourg reported to be leading the race.
