Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has turned down an offer to extend his contract with the Blues, instead reaching an agreement to join Spanish giant Real Madrid.

Rudiger, whose contract with Chelsea expires at the end of this season, has agreed to join Madrid on a four-year contract.

“Antonio Rudiger will join Real Madrid on a four-year deal worth €400,000 per week at the end of the season; defender turned down chance to extend Chelsea contract,” Skysports reported on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old German defender will officially put pen to paper for the Spanish side on July 1.

Rudiger has made 130 appearances for the Blues, netting nine goals since he joined Chelsea in 2017 from Italian side As Roma.
