Following the dismissal of manager Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday morning, Chelsea are now set to hold discussions with Brighton head coach Graham Potter as a potential replacement for the sacked German.

Renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano disclosed Chelsea has been allowed to speak to Potter by Brighton and are now preparing a contract proposal for the 47-year-old Englishman.

“Chelsea are preparing the contract proposal for Graham Potter but the main priority will be discussing a long-term project. He’s the favourite — while Pochettino is now waiting for Chelsea to decide.

“Brighton will discuss with Chelsea on compensation/clause right after,” Fabrizio said on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.

Potter began his managerial career with Swedish outfit Östersunds FK in 2011 where he won Svenska Cupen, Division 1 Norra, and Division 2 Norrland, before heading to Swansea City in 2018.

He was appointed by Brighton in 2019 and has since guided the ‘The Seagulls’ to their highest points (41) and goals (39) in the Premier League to finish 15th in the 2017/18 season before Potter surpassed his record when he led Brighton to a ninth-place finish in the 2020/21 Premier League season.

Brighton accumulated 52 points and scored 42 goals in that season.
