Chelsea, PSG advance to Champions League semi-finals despite losses

Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain have both advanced to the semifinals of this season’s Uefa Champions League after beating Porto and Bayern Munich on aggregate respectively.
The first leg of the fixture saw Chelsea defeating Portuguese champions Porto with two goals to nil while PSG edged Bayern Munich with 3-2 victory.
The match was largely a cagy affair until a late goal by Mehdi Taremi gave Porto the win in Tuesday’s second leg match but it was too little, too late as Chelsea proceeded on 2-1 aggregate victory having won the first leg 2-0.
Tonight’s loss however handed Thomas Tuchel his first loss in competition as Chelsea manager.
In the other match, Bayern Munich mounted pressure on PSG’s defense to win the game 1-0 and end the tie at 3-3 aggregate. But the French champions qualified on away goal rule.
Neymar missed a couple of chances to score for PSG but saw his shots being denied by the bar.
Chelsea will face the winner of the game between Real Madrid and Liverpool in the semifinal match.
Paris Saint Germain on the other side will be expecting to play against the winner between Manchester City and Dortmund.
