The chief imam said that the antecedents of Oba Ladoja showed that he has good intentions to serve Ibadanland and entire Yoruba land.

The Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheik Abdul-Ganiyy Agbotomokekere, has urged indigenes of Ibadanland and close allies of Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, to continually support him with prayers and good advice that would not mislead him.

Mr Agbotomokekere said this in his sermon during  a thanksgiving by Oba Ladoja at the Jumaat at the Ibadan Central Mosque on Friday.

The chief imam said that the antecedents of Oba Ladoja showed that he has good intentions to serve Ibadanland and entire Yoruba land.

According to him, the new Olubadan inherited good name from his forefathers and has also built on it when he was a senator and governor.

Mr Agbotomokekere charged the congregation to emulate Mr Ladoja’s good deeds and always see themselves as shepards in whatever positions they may find themselves, even as father or mother in the family or community head.

“Each shepard should always know that they will account to God on the last day on the way they lead people under their care.”

Among dignitaries on the entourage of Olubadan were, Senator Fatai Buhari, Senator Sarafadeen Alli, Senator Teslim Folarin, and Senator Soji Akanbi, among others.

Mr Ladoja on Sunday held a thanksgiving service at the Church of the Ascension, Bodija Ibadan.

The traditional ruler, at the church service, reiterated his commitment to dedicate the rest of his life to serving Ibadanland and its people.

Mr Ladoja said his role as traditional ruler would focus on ensuring peace and development in the ancient city of Ibadan.
