China to strengthen economy against global challenges: Wang Yi

China’s foreign minister, Wang Yi, has restated the country’s resolve to strengthen its economy to withstand growing global challenges.
Mr Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, spoke to journalists in Beijing on Sunday.
He addressed the media on the sidelines of the fourth session of the 14th National People’s Congress, held from March 3 to 11.
Mr Wang said global economic changes “never seen in centuries” were unfolding rapidly in the modern era.
“We are forging ahead at full speed in building a great country, and our national rejuvenation is unstoppable. Our country’s international influence is rising steadily under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, with President Xi Jinping as its core,” he said.
He said China was guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy in safeguarding sovereignty, security and development interests.
“To bolster China’s economy against global challenges, we are ready to work closely with like-minded countries to build a shared future,” Mr Wang said.
He added that China’s achievements were anchored on dialogue and coordination among major countries.
“The initiatives and propositions by President Xi demonstrate China’s strategic foresight and broad global vision,” Mr Wang said.
