Yohanna Buru, the overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, led a delegation of Christian clerics to commiserate with the family of a lynched Islamiyyah teacher in Kaduna.

Speaking during the condolence visit on Thursday, Mr Buru expressed deep sorrow over the incident and conveyed the condolences of the Christian community to the bereaved family.

He condemned the killing, saying that every human life is sacred and that no religion supports violence or the unlawful taking of innocent lives.

According to him, Nigerians, irrespective of their religious or ethnic backgrounds, should embrace peace, love, forgiveness and mutual respect.

He said peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance remained essential to national unity and sustainable development.

He urged religious leaders to continue promoting compassion, understanding and dialogue, while encouraging young people to reject hatred, violence and mob justice.

The cleric also appealed to security agencies and other relevant authorities to ensure that justice was pursued through lawful means, urging communities to remain calm and refrain from actions capable of escalating tensions.

Mr Buru stressed that Christians and Muslims had lived together peacefully for generations and should continue to strengthen the bonds of friendship, cooperation and mutual respect.

He further called on Nigerians to work collectively to promote peace, protect human dignity and build a society where religious differences were respected.

Responding, members of the bereaved family thanked the Christian delegation for the condolence visit, describing the gesture as a demonstration of compassion, solidarity and interfaith harmony during their period of mourning.

The deceased, identified as Ms Ummulkhairi, was lynched in Mararaban Jos, a community along the Kaduna-Zaria highway, after being falsely accused of attempting to kidnap children.

Witnesses said the victim had left her home in New Mararaban Jos to attend an Islamic lecture at Madrasat Tashiyhul Iman, a school founded by Islamic scholar Malama Mardiyya in the old Mararaba area.

According to the accounts, Ms Ummulkhairi had stopped to ask some children for directions to the venue when some women reportedly accused her of attempting to kidnap the children.
