The Ogun Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says motorists should avoid speeding and reckless driving to reduce road crashes during the Christmas celebration.

The appeal came from Ahmed Umar, the FRSC Sector Commander, in his Christmas message on Sunday in Ogun.

Mr Umar reiterated the commitment of the corps to ensure that motorists get to their various destinations during, before and after the Christmas season.

“We are appealing to motorists to embrace safety culture, exercise patience and refrain from overspeeding to minimise accidents during the festivity,” the Road Safety chief said.

“In addition, we implored drivers to desist from drunk driving, wrongful overtaking and reckless driving to reduce mishaps,” he added.

The sector commander also enjoined motorists against overloading. They should cooperate with FRSC personnel and other sister agencies to ensure sanity on the highway.

He said that the FRSC had massively deployed its personnel across the state to check excesses of drivers and responds promptly to accident cases, including towing away vehicles which break down.
