The International Centre for Population and Development Activities has conferred the exceptional leadership and global peace ambassadorial award on Christopher Jen, the Controller, Nigeria Correctional Service, FCT command.

A statement by the command on Friday disclosed this.

Speaking at the event, the executive director of CIPA INTERNATIONAL, Joseph David, said the award recognised the controller’s outstanding leadership, contributions to peacebuilding, and commitment to youth development.

He commended the controller for his exemplary leadership and dedication to societal development.

He said that as part of the honour, the controller was also bestowed with the title of ‘Global Peace Ambassador’. According to him, this aligns with the principles of the United Nations Global Peace Convention.

“Controller Jen stands as a beacon of hope and transformation, making invaluable contributions to peace and stability in the communities he serves,” he said.

Mr Jen expressed his appreciation to the organisers for the recognition and dedicated the award to the inmates under his care, as well as to the less privileged in society.

He reaffirmed his commitment to service and humanity, noting that the honour would serve as motivation to further expand outreach initiatives targeted at vulnerable groups.

“This recognition serves as a strong motivation to do more. It will further inspire my efforts, particularly in expanding outreach initiatives that support vulnerable groups,” he said.

The recognition, according to observers, underscores the growing impact of correctional leadership in advancing peace, rehabilitation and community engagements in line with the mandate of the NCoS.

The award was presented at a ceremony held in Abuja on Thursday.
