Civil Defence deploys 52,000 personnel nationwide for Eid-el-fitr celebration

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 52,000 officers and men to provide security across the country as Muslims celebrate the Eid-el-Fitri.
This is contained in a statement issued by NSCDC spokesman Olusola Odumosu on Thursday in Abuja.
Mr Odumosu said that NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, had urged the personnel to discharge their duties effectively during the festive period.
Mr Audi directed Zonal Commanders to ensure proper security coordination of their zones.
He said State Commandants, Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, Component Commanders and Special Forces should effectively mobilise those under them to achieve watertight security.
He specifically mentioned that religious worship centres, recreational facilities, motor parks, gardens, markets, shopping complexes, black spots and critical installations should be adequately protected.
The CG said that to guarantee peace and safety of lives and critical assets, it was important for the Corps to synergise with other security agencies to achieve a common protective goal.
He charged all formations of the Corps to engage community stakeholders in gathering credible intelligence and carry out composite surveillance before, during and after the celebration to prevent sudden attacks from criminals.
The Corps helmsman extended his felicitation to all Muslim faithful in the country and across the world on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.
He prayed to God to answer all prayers for peace, stability and security in the country.
