Coalition hails Aiyedatiwa’s EASE agenda, seeks stronger democratic institutions

The Coalition of All Civil Society Organisations in Ondo has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his policy blueprint named ‘OUR EASE Agenda’.
The blueprint focuses on areas such as security, urban and rural development, technological advancement, efficient healthcare, sustainable agriculture, and education.
Alo Martins, the coalition’s chairman, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Akure, stating that their position was not driven by partisanship or opposition politics.
Mr Martins said the governor’s blueprint was addressing critical socio-economic challenges and fostering inclusive growth across the state.
According to him, CACSOD is a non-partisan civil society coalition committed to promoting good governance, accountability, and democratic development in Ondo.
He explained that CACSOD maintained that the essence of democracy lay not only in development outcomes but also in institutional safeguards, which ensured power was exercised responsibly.
The chairman condemned the recent mass defection of opposition lawmakers in the State House of Assembly to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
According to Mr Martins, the condemnation is for balance and institutional health and not as criticism.
“Our statement was, therefore, a call for balance and institutional health, not a criticism of any party or leader. We urge APC and all political actors to see our intervention as a democratic reminder, not an attack.
“CACSOD will continue to support Aiyedatiwa’s OUR EASE development agenda and partner with all democratic institutions to advance transparency, equity, and sustainable development in Ondo State,” Mr Martins said.
